Icon Theatre, ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company and Amina Khayyam Dance Company with the Historic Dockyard Chatham are auditioning dancers for a new show, directed by Icon’s Artistic Director Nancy Hirst and choreographed by ZooNation’s Associate Artistic Director, Dannielle ‘Rhimes’ Lecointe, with additional choreography by Amina Khayyam Dance Company’s Artistic Director, Amina Khayyam. 

Icon Theatre is an award-winning Medway-based theatre company. We bring together professional artists and communities to create large-scale outdoor, immersive, and site-specific theatre and dance productions. 

In October 2024, we will stage a brand-new immersive and devised dance-theatre production at The Historic Dockyard Chatham. Using a mix of choreography, spoken word, original music and projection, the production will tell the story of how The Historic Dockyard Chatham has shaped local and national identity through its connection to the British Empire. 

In Icon’s signature style, the production will be created and performed by a 200-strong company of professionals and a community company.

Joining ZooNation in 2016, Sri has been the driving force behind ZooNation’s growth, success and longevity. Most significantly in 2018 Sri’s inspirational leadership established ZooNation as a charity and a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO). Since then, ZooNation has engaged with more artists, audiences and young people than ever, and has secured NPO funding for the third round under her unwavering dedication and direction.

ZooNation appoints Dannielle ‘Rhimes’ Lecointe as Associate Artistic Director

ZooNation is excited and proud to announce the appointment of Dannielle ‘Rhimes’ Lecointe as our first Associate Artistic Director.

In this role Rhimes will support the company to create relevant and impactful work, programmes and opportunities for artists and audiences.

We can’t wait to dream up and realise ideas with Rhimes, watch this space!

“As part of ZooNation’s mission to support the next generation of theatre makers, we are proud to announce the appointment of Dannielle ‘Rhimes’ Lecointe as the company’s first Associate Artistic Director.

As well as being a respected performer and choreographer in her own right, Rhimes has been a key contributor to the success of ZooNation for a number of years.

In this new role, we know that she will continue to inspire dancers and audience members alike. We are grateful to the Arts Council England and all of our donors for enabling the company to make this appointment and to take this next exciting step in our story.”

This programme, now in its second year, is a paid professional development programme offering personal, practical and creative support to three artists exploring solo works across two weeks. Led by identity. ideas. industry. (iii) founder Shannelle ‘Tali’ Fergus, with visits and support by ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company creatives and industry experts.

ZooNation and Dancers’ Career Development (DCD) have come together to provide a paid opportunity for freelance Hip Hop dancers who wish to explore different career options beyond performing. Successful applicants will gain financial assistance, mentoring and coaching towards exploring options to support their career within or outside the arts sector.
