ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company nominated for Black British Theatre Award

ZooNation’s smash hit show Some Like It Hip Hop (2019) has been nominated for ‘Best Dance Production Award’ in the 2020 Black British Theatre Awards

Directed by Kate Prince, Some Like It Hip Hop joins productions from Boy Blue and Ballet Black in the category, all of which were nominated almost entirely by the general public. The nomination follows the show’s return to the West End last year at Sadler’s Wells Peacock Theatre and a successful UK tour.

The Black British Theatre Awards began in 2019 as the UK’s first award show to celebrate the excellence and influence of black performers and creatives in the theatre industry. It’s an honour for ZooNation to join the nominees in a hugely poignant year. The 2020 Black British Theatre Awards will also be aired on national television for the first time, and the programme will be Executively Produced by Kwame Kwei-Armah and hosted at London’s Young Vic Theatre.

ZooNation would like to thank the Black British Theatre Awards for the nomination, and congratulate all those involved in making the show the success it is.

The ceremony will feature on Sky Arts this October, date TBC
