Our Mission

At ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company, diversity and inclusivity are at the core of everything we do. Founded and led by women, we amplify underrepresented voices, celebrate Black culture, and honour the roots of Hip Hop music and dance.

Our initiatives reflect our commitment to equity and artistic excellence:

  • Behind the Scenes Initiative: Diversifying and supporting Black talent in roles like stage management, lighting, sound, costume design, and production.

  • ZooNation Youth Company: Providing guidance, safe spaces, and creative platforms for young people to discuss issues of race and nurture their artistic potential.

  • Young Artists Training Scheme: A paid development opportunity for emerging dancers to join ZooNation’s professional cast during rehearsals, gaining hands-on experience in a professional production environment.
  • Education & Participation: Teaching the origins and history of Hip Hop while fostering awareness and appreciation for its Black cultural roots.

  • Anti-Racism in Storytelling: Producing work that challenges oppression, promotes equality, and celebrates diversity.

Equity and amplifying diverse voices, artists, and stories has always been, and always will be, at the heart of our mission. Together, we break barriers and shape a more inclusive, empowering future for the arts.
