Sylvia Pankhurst. Activist. Rebel. Icon.
Sylvia, the Olivier-nominated musical production starring Beverley Knight as Emmeline Pankhurst and Sharon Rose as Sylvia Pankhurst will return in Autumn 2026 for a limited tour ahead of five performances at the Royal Albert Hall from 13th – 15th November 2026 with tickets on sale to the public for the Royal Albert Hall from 7 November.
The Royal Albert Hall was the home of over 20 suffragette rallies and some of the most historic speeches in the fight for women to gain the vote, and the suffragettes were banned from the Hall between 1913 and 1918. This revolutionary story celebrates the life of Sylvia Pankhurst, the rebellious middle child of Emmeline Pankhurst, and her role at the heart of the Suffragette movement, improving the lives of working women and men across the world.
Eleanor Lloyd Productions, Eilene Davidson Productions and PW Productions in association with Rupert Gavin/Mallory Factor, Curve Leicester, and Beverley Knight present The Old Vic and ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company in association with Sadler’s Wells production.
With book and lyrics by Kate Prince, co-written with Priya Parmar, and a score by Cohen and DJ Walde, Sylvia dramatises the evolution of Pankhurst’s political journey: from youthful activism alongside her sister Christabel, through her ideological break with the WSPU, to her bold movements as a pacifist and socialist. The piece unfolds against themes of political betrayal, family conflict, hunger strikes and revolutionary hope, all delivered in ZooNation’s powerful blend of hip hop, funk, soul and theatre.
Sylvia began as a work in progress at The Old Vic in September 2018, ahead of its full evolution into a bold musical-dance-theatre hybrid co-produced by the Old Vic, ZooNation and Sadler’s Wells.
It’s world premiere ran at The Old Vic from 27 January to 8 April 2023, receiving three Laurence Olivier Award nominations, winning one.
