ZooNation Youth Company

ZooNation Youth Company (ZYC) was founded in 2006 and is comprised of some of the best young hip-hoppers in the UK with dancers from all over London and from as far as Liverpool, Stoke, Southampton, Wolverhampton and Brighton.

As well as performing as part of the cast of West End show Into the Hoods, ZYC has performed in the Channel 4/BAFTA short film The Holloway Launderette (Channel 4/BAFTA/Big Dance), Breakin’ Convention, Move Like Michael Jackson (BBC), Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday Celebrations (worldwide broadcast) and BBC’s Blue Peter to name but a few.

The company were incredibly honoured to be invited to perform for the International Olympics Committee at the Royal Opera House (heads of state, opening ceremony, London Olympics 2012).

ZYC performed ZooNation’s Groove on Down the Road at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, where they are resident company, in the summers of 2013 and 2014. They have performed as guests at the Dance Proms, at the Royal Albert Hall and at Fresh at The Place. In the last year alone, members of the company have performed at Southbank Centre, Royal Festival Hall stage, Move It at Excel, The Old Vic Summer Party, Kensington Roof Gardens, Leicester Curve, The Marlowe Theatre and London’s New Year’s Day Parade.

ZooNation Youth Company Auditions Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September 2018


Could you be a ZooNation Youth Company dancer?

Are you a dancer aged between 10-20 years with advanced skills in Locking, Popping, House, Breaking and Technical dance styles?

Do you have the desire to work hard and take that vital step forward into the dance profession?

We are looking for members to join our Youth Company, ZYC. We will be holding an audition on Saturday 15th September with recalls for successful attendees on Sunday 16th September, in London and invite you to register your place at the audition by Friday 31st August.

From September 2018 ZooNation Youth Company is refining its focus and will be a company of up to 15 dancers only. This more compact company will be led by our first guest Artistic Director Carrie-Anne Ingrouille. Members will gain dedicated training in foundations and Hip Hop styles, learn from regular guest teachers and present work at a selected calendar of exciting performance opportunities.


  1. Aged between 10 – 20 years old on the audition date.
  2. Able to attend compulsory Saturday training sessions 10am – 6pm in London, during term time.
  3. Available to attend additional rehearsals as required for performances (These may take place on weeknights and during the holidays)

What we are looking for

  1. A high level of dance skill and ability in the following dance styles; Locking, Popping, House, Breaking, Technical (including turns and across the floor work) and picking up choreography and the ability to execute this at a high standard.
  2. Ability to freestyle.
  3. A commitment to improving your skills and working with a professional attitude.
  4. A willingness to work as part of a company and as an individual.
