About the show
Sadler’s Wells and Universal Music UK present Message In A Bottle, the breathtaking new dance-theatre production by triple Olivier Award nominee, Kate Prince, to the music of 17-time Grammy Award winner, Sting.
The peaceful village of Bebko is alive with joyous celebrations. Suddenly, under attack, everything changes forever. Three siblings, Leto, Mati and Tana, must embark on perilous journeys in order to survive.
Initially inspired by Sting’s track, Desert Rose, Message In A Bottle is an uplifting and poignant tale of humanity and hope that reflects on salient global tropes, including displacement, immigration and survival, using high-energy footwork, exhilarating dance styles and breath-taking athleticism.
This is the latest stage work from Kate Prince, whose renowned narrative choreography includes West End theatrical hits Some Like it Hip Hop, Into the Hoods and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, set to many of Sting’s most iconic hits, including Every Breath You Take, Roxanne and Fields Of Gold. The production features the astonishing talents of dance storytelling powerhouse ZooNation and brings together a world-class award-winning creative team, including new musical arrangements by Alex Lacamoire (Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen).
This hit production opened at Sadler’s Wells The Peacock theatre in the West End in January 2020 receiving rave reviews.

Coming 2024 Message In A Bottle Cinema Release
Sadler’s Wells and the Royal Opera House have joined forces to release Message In A Bottle as a film.
The film will be released in U.K. cinemas from May 2024 and will be broadcast in the U.S. as part of the PBS Great Performances season from 3rd November 2023.
Kate Prince worked with BAFTA-winning screen director Marcus Viner to capture the show on six Arri-LF 4K cameras. Stage2View, an independent company in the stage-to-screen world, teamed up with Mercury Studios and Sadler’s Wells to produce the film in a sound stage environment.
Prince said: “I am so excited that ‘Message In A Bottle’ will hit cinemas next year, as well as the stage show embarking on a major tour. Having the opportunity to film on a sound stage gave us the ability to capture each element of the show from the best possible angle, allowing the audience to truly appreciate the agility and athleticism of the dancers and draw them fully into the story.”
